hi
my ds due to have mmr later this morning. He's streaming with the cold - they won't postpone it will they?

They did for my dd. I don't think there was any medical reason, but they said it probably wasn't fair to give her something that might make her feel grotty, when she was already feeling grotty. I took her back two weeks later. They did the same for me with my holiday jabs!

flamesparrow · 11/11/2005 09:41

Would you not want it postponed anyway? Otherwise you're putting illness into him when he's already fighting one, and he will react to both worse

JessicaandRebeccasmummy · 11/11/2005 09:43

i cancelled jess's first mmr appointment as she was snuffly and teething, booked her in for the following week when she was feeling better

zippitippitoes · 11/11/2005 09:45

I would cancel today myself and rebook for next couple of weeks, best to be fit in my opinion

Angeliz · 11/11/2005 10:01

I cancelled a jab at the weekend because of a cold. I'd leave it till he's better

tortoiseshell · 11/11/2005 10:02

Up to you I think - the official guidance is that if they don't/haven't had a high temperature then it's fine, but think I would leave it till he's really well.

Hope he's better soon.

ds2 had his MMR 6 months late - -he spent all winter with coughs and colds, so I waited until the spring -

-the nurse was quite sniffy about it and said well they can have them as long as they don't have a temperature, but I thought it was kinder/safer to wait until he was well

ja9 · 11/11/2005 11:39

went out at 9:30 beofre anyone replied...

he got his jab. hv said as long as he didnt have temp and was off his food... we're home now and he seems fine.

will give him lots of tlc to make up for it!

my dd has had hers cancelled twice due to having colds, i rang them up on the morning and they said no-no way, they just wont do it if they are already fighting an infection

WigWamBam · 11/11/2005 11:55

They wouldn't do my dd when she had a cold either - no temperature, just a cold.

beckybrastraps · 11/11/2005 12:09

Don't fret!

ja9 · 11/11/2005 16:00

too late now...

Hey, don't worry. The nurse was best placed to make that judgement (after you of course!). Lots of tlc will help.

ja9,
my dd had hers last Tuesday and she had a streaming cold. She was a bit grumpy but that's to be expected with either a cold or a jab, and other than that she has been fine. Don't worry. Give him lots of cuddles and sympathy.

staceym11 · 11/11/2005 21:19

they wouldnt do my dd, but she had sickness diahorreoh (god i cant spell) and a temp, so can see why!!!
