ulcer v gallstones?

posted last week about pain in my chest - feels like trapped wind, mainly on the right side & also radiating into my back, usually in the evening or waking me up in the night. Finally been to GP and she's done a bunch of bloodtests for ulcer, gallbladder, liver & pancreas but says they might or might not tell us anything. Never occured to me it could be an ulcer because of where the pain is but GP seems to think it's a possibility. Tests will come back on friday and then depending on the results might have to go for a scan.

So...seeing as there's nothing else I can do while this process moves along, and to stop myself obsessively googling gallstones, just want to know what other's experiences are of any of these things - anyone want to share?

i went through the same thing as you, my doc thought ulcer for over 18m and treated me for it with a multitude of pills which never worked because guess what is was a gallstone!

ive just had my op to get shot of the gallbladder and its stoney lodger!
feeling tired and tender with little to no appitite but what did i expect afterwards lol
i would much rather have the after pain from the op than have the gallstone pain pack thats for sure
i hope your doc gets it sorted for you and it the bloods come back negative then insist on a scan

18months - that doesn't sound like fun, poor you! Sad

She's given me some tablets for acid which I'm to try but sceptical they will do any good. On the positive side, she has already said that if the blood tests are inconclusive she will refer me for a scan.

The only thing that suggests ulcer to me is that I suppose i take a lot of ibuprofen (which I'm now not allowed to take til we get a diagnosis) but other than that I don't really think that's what it is. On the other hand, I really don't want to have to go for surgery!

the surgery really isnt that bad, plus afterwards youll get to warm the sofa with your ass for a few days! Grin

i hope you get some answers soon x
