Worried about friend

When my friend dropped her kids off with me yesterday morning, she looked awful and said she had got her period and that it was really heavy which was unusual for her.

When she dropped them off this morning she said that after she left mine yesterday, she got as far as the end of the road and blood was pouring down her legs, soaking her trousers straight through.

She went home and could not get off the tiolet the bleeding was that heavy, and she also had satsuma sized clots. She called her husband, who came home and took her to the docs. He said it could be fibroids, but that wouldn't cause such sudden heavy bleeding would it ??

She has also been having lots of nose bleeds, i don't know if this is connected or not, but anyway herg.p has done a blood test but not sure what for.

Today she said the bleeding is alot lighter but that her stomach is very sore.

I am worried that she is over douing things. I know that wouldn't cause the bleeding, but it's not going to help.
On the days she isn't at uni, she is doing cash in hand jobs as they are in debt, and so she isn't having any days off at all.

It could be fibroids, my next door neighbour spent a weekend in bed pouring with blood and passing golfball sized clots. She had them sorted and now she is fine.

Hi nc, I used to suffer heavy periods due to a hormonal imbalance, sorted itself out when I had ds. Your friend's GP will check her hormone levels, could be that, but could be fibroids

Ahh right ok, fibroids aren't bad bad are they ??

as well as checking for fibroids, they should check for clotting disorders (von willebrands etc) as many women with heavy/painful periods also have an undiagnosed clotting disorder.

Ahh right, will ask her about that bundle.

She asked me if i thought it could have been a misscariage, she had done a test after the bleeding at it was Neg. I said it was highly unlikely because the test would have been Pos still because of the hormoines still being in her body , is that right ??

Fibroids are benign (non-malignant) tumours of the womb. Fibroids are present in 20 per cent of women of reproductive age, but it is uncommon for them to be detected in women under 30.

And yes I think you are right re the PG hormones.

Right, thanks.

She is 37 by the way, so in the right age group for fibriods.
