I ahve endo and have had it for about 12 years , had my last lot of surgery jan 2010 but I am still suffering been back tot he doctors this week and was told because I am over 35 they are restricted to what they can give me I cant have the combined pill to stop my periods as I am too old but I am too young for a hysterectomy which is what I want doing , they have put me on provera for 90 days but they basically said once I have finished that its either coli which I have tried twice and had to have t removed both times due to problems with it or I have to grin and bear it . Can someone give me advice on what treatment they are on for it

I've suffered from it for years too, at least since my mid teens (not diag til 20s) and have had 3 lots of surgery so far.
Since my last surgery, 2007, and also since my DS I've been on the Implant with a progesterone pill (cerazette) on top to stop my periods. I too can't take the combined pill, but thats because of migraines. I'm 32 now and intending to stay with this method for as long as I can. I too, ideally want a hysterectomy, but am considered too young and I only have one child, which apparently isn't enough as I 'might not have completed my family yet' even though we only ever wanted one! Gah...

I am a bit like that my husband has had the snip and my endo was that bad last time I have damage anyway so I cant have more children anyway even if I wanted them , I just feel so frustrated.

I am going to take the tablet for the 90 days and then see how I am but think I will asked to be referred back to the hospital

Hi Olijackmum - dont be fobbed off you have something that needs dealing with.

I can only share my experience but it may help you on your way.

Are you under an endo specialist? Cant stress this enough.

Initially I went to Dr's who sent me to a general gyno...who hadnt got a clue or didnt specialise in endo, went on for months and months and as you know the pain also went on for months.

Did my own research about endo and all that kept coming up was the importance of seeing an endo specialist for the best treatment and understanding of this ghastly disease. I found mine on www.drfosterhealth.co.uk/hospital-guide/#procsearch then put a post on the Endo UK forumn site and got 3 replies from people who see and raved about this specialist. I went back to Dr's who did what's called a search and book there an then on the comp! - Apparently they can do this I got an appt the following week, went to see him on NHS at a private clinic where waiting time was minimal so again if you find someone ask if there is a private clinic where the consultant does NHS.

Also the following is a very interesting about the excision of endo rather than laster etc... this Dr is apparently well respected not sure what area you are in but check out his website - www.endometriosis-consultant.co.uk/ also see here some people on the forum who have seen him endoboard.yuku.com/topic/10009

You can go back to your Dr's and ask/demand to be referred to the specialist in your area that you have found

Its almost like starting from scratch but if you get there in the end it will be worth it

Let me know what you think
