How much would a private breast check cost?

I have no idea. Have a lump in breast but the doctors around here are useless and you wait hours to see them.

I would rather just pay for a check and get it done with providing it's not too expensive.

I am a SAHM so only have £140 per month for me and 2 children.

Thanks

NHS is usually pretty good for this sort of thing - your GP will most likely refer you to a breast clinic where it will be checked out.
Going private could work out very expensive if there is a need for scans or a biopsy.

Matilda I#m sure if you contact your GP surgery and say you have found a lump they will see you as a matter of urgency and you will be referred swiftly is necessary. Doctors don't mess around when it comes to this.

Have you rung your GP, what did they say?

SardineQueen · 07/05/2011 13:54

swiftly if necessary, I mean

Matildathebrave · 07/05/2011 14:56

Well I certainly couldn't afford that!

I don't know if it's a lump or not, not sure what I'm feeling for?

Feels like the harder bit underneath the nipple area but is slightly different on one side. Feels like grissle?

Don't know what a lump should feel like?

Matilda, I have had an achy breast for a while & went to see my GP she gave me a referral. I got a call yesterday to go to the breast clinic on Monday it only took a week. I was surprised & asked the lady from bookings if it was normal to get an appt so quickly she said they are usually very quick. Private will be very expensive the NHS would see you very quickly. I don't where you live but I'm in London.

Matilda please just call your GP and book an appointment. They will see you quickly for this and refer you if necessary.

Most of the time these odd lumps and bumps turn out to be nothing to worry about, but if not then it's best the quickest it's caught. Please go to your doc ASAP, they know what they are looking for. Please don't sit at home wondering if it is a lump or not, what a lump feels like etc etc, just get it seen to Smile
