How regular must a cough be to start to worry?

My 11m DD has a cough that comes and goes. sometimes she coughs when I put her down, sometimes she coughs in the morning and sometimes she coughs something up, but immediately swallows what ever she coughs up.

I am not at all worried about her health as she is happy, eats, drinks, plays and when I have been to the HV or doc for her check ups they are not worried. However my mother is getting very precious about this and its driving me crazy. Should I take her to the doctor again just to be able to put my mother's mind at ease, or stuck to my gut instinct that she is absolutely fine, and coughs come and go in babies?

Hi, if your DD coughs more at night this could be a sign of asthma. My DS started coughing at around 18 months and this was the first sign of astma starting. Also, does your DD cough straight after eating ? As this can be a food allergy symptom too.

Sometimes she coughs at night, more than during the day, but sometimes it can be the other way around. I should keep a cough diary just in case I do decide to get it checked out by the GP.

She never coughs after eating, unless something has gone down the wrong way (we are doing BLW).

Thanks for your reply!
