Has anyones child had a major operation on there heart? I find out at the end of October if the procedure he had (operating through his thigh and up to his heart) worked. If it hasnt he has to have a huge op. and im starting to C*p it! Has anybody had the threat of this too, and it never happened? Just wondering how common it is and how you coped! Thankyou

Hi forestfly, my daughter had open heart surgery last december (can't believe it was almost a year ago!) to repair the hole in her heart. She was almost 18 months at the time. It was alot easier than I expected...and you do just cope (no alternative I guess )
Have you found out yet whether he needs surgery? I hope it is good news.
I am new to these boards, so I would love to hear more about your son.

take care
Jessie

Just wanted to say that i took my son for a check up. His operation worked, at the moment he doesn't need another. They don't need to check on him for one whole year. Happy Days

fio2 · 21/11/2003 10:02

so pleased your little boy is doing well forestfly, that must take a bit of pressure off you

misdee · 21/11/2003 10:04

thanks. the deadline for 'improvement' in his heart is april, if by then nothing has got better then transplant becomes a real possibility. atm he is stable on drug therepy and just tking things easy. he misses beer tho, says that alcohol free stuff is just nasty and not the same to watch the footy with.

forestfly · 21/11/2003 10:17

Thanks fio x, good luck misdee, you never know what can happen. I'd even got new pyjamas for the hospital. I wish you all lots of luck. Take Care
