My DS who is 5 has had some small swollen lymph nodes in his neck for the past 3-4 months. They are no bigger then 1cm and move about etc.

We have seen a few dr's about it and he had blood tests and chest-x-ray which all were normaly 2 months ago.

However they are still there although not really changed in size. He feel asleep at school Tuesday and I had to pick him up, and I took him to GP who said his ear was really red so possible viral ear infection although not complianing of any pain. He fell asleep at the end of school yesterday but perked up in the evening as was running and riding his bike. Today I took him to school and he was saying he was tired although not sure if it was to get out of school.

So now I am worrying again. The docs feel there is nothing to worry about but as soon as he gets poorly I panic. The tiredness over the last 3 days is the main one.

Has anyone had any experience of lumps in neck etc? I suppose the fact they are small and not grown in 3 months is good??

Hi Anna,
DS1 has has a lump in his neck for years, it's a swollen lymph node and causes him no bother at all. I always ask the doctor to check it whenever we go just to be on the safe side.

Anna
My DS2 (19 now) had a lump on the back of his neck when he was a little boy. I always presumed it was a lymph node.
Was just to the right of his spine and I could see it when he sat on my lap.

my 4 year old has always had swollen nodes either side of his neck, when he is poorly in any way they always get bigger, i always mention it whenever we go to the doctors but its just how it is. My gp says that some children tend to have big ole nodes, he may just have a viral thing re- the tirdness ?
