blue mollar

My dd is cutting a canine and a mollar at the same time and I'm a bit concerned about the fact that the gum above the mollar has turned blue. She seems to be in pain and is hardly eating anything. Should I be concerned about her gum (infection?) or is it normal ? she cut her first 8 teeth without any pain but these seem like hard work.

I don't know why it would be blue, but very close to the tooth erupting the gum does go quite translutent, maybe this could be making appear blue. The molar teeth are generally harder work as the surfaces are blunter & don't "cut" thru the gum as easily as canines & incisors.

If she had an infection she would have a bad taste (hard to determine on young children) bad smell & possibly some discharge around the tooth. The appearence would be yellow/red rather than blue.

Offer normal painkillers & cold foods to help numb the surface area & a toothbrush is great to chew on for the back teeth as most teething rings don't get back there!

and painless. Don't worry.
