Continuous Pins and Needles in hand

KurriKurri · 25/04/2011 15:02

I've had this for a couple of weeks now, it started in the tip of one finger, now is in the whole of my left hand. It feel like the tingling you get when you've had pins and needles and the circulation is just coming back, or the feeling you get in your hand when you bang your funny bone, but its all the time.

I'm going to ring for a GP appointment tomorrow, but wondered if anyone had any ideas?

Raynaud's phenomenon?

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

Have no personal experience but these are both quite common and there are treatments available, not sure how effective they are though.

Thank you RUMR - the carpal tunnel thing sounds a definite possibility.

Theres lots of conditions that can cause this, lots aren't anything to worry about, I get it with migraine & its also a symptom of Fibromyalgia - which I also have - but can also be caused by RightUp s suggestions too

I think its caused Parethesia, or something similar to that

cocolepew · 25/04/2011 15:53

I get it from fluid build up in my arms.

Thanks all Smile. I'm sorry to hear you have fibromyalgia rockinhippy, - I imagine that is very painful Sad

Thanks Kurri , it can be, but I'm used to it now & tend not to dwell on it too much & cope fine, if I'm honest the exhaustion bit is probably worse, you can't take pills for that

  • lol -

I hope your appointment goes well & you get a nice simple answer

Quick update - GP confirmed carpal tunnel syndrome (well done Dr. RightUp [cgrin]) so anti inflammatories and if no improvement, steroid injections - hopefully it won't get to that point. Thank again for the help everyone Smile

stress can cause the peripheral circulation to cause pins and needles.

rockinhippy · 28/04/2011 09:44

Glad to hear it went well for you & hope the anti-inflamitaries do the trick - though just incase they don't - do make sure that your GP sends you for a scan to confirm it really IS Carpel Tunnel BEFORE stating you on any steroid injections

KurriKurri · 28/04/2011 10:30

Thanks for that info. rockin - I will do. (not actually very keen on the idea of the injections).
