My worse pain atm is in my wrist. It feels like it has needles stabbed in it and I can't bare to touch it. DH just put some cold deep heat on it. It was a few weeks ago I put my hand down to push up off the floor and my wrist couldn't take the weight and it was agony. I feel like I am getting old .

Are you on a painkiller regime and have you been seen by the rheumatology clinic or pain clinic?

I am on amitryptiline but not sure why. Was diagnoses with migraines so maybe that?

Not been to rheumotology or pain clinic but was sent to a physio who said she couldn't help me.

Definitely don't get enough sleep.

I don't know if I was given it as an AD as the doctor changed my ADs the day he putt me on the amitryptowhatsit.

A low dose of amitryptiline is supposed to work as a painkiller. I can't take it - hypersensitive to AD's and they make me very ill.

OP - I have fibro, am on ami's 10mg a day plus paracetamol. I can also take Diclofenac and codeine as and when I need it when in a flare.

I'm doing Physio, my Rheumy (who dx me) told me to go and it's been a big help, my Physio is the first person (after years, and I mean years, of investigations by specialists (undiagnosed SN, dx after Uni)) to discover I am hypermobile. My Physio is teaching me some Pilates moves to build my core strength and to ease the painful tense muscles with stretching.

Ami's are great at helping chronic pain, but not acute, hence why I take diclofenac et al during a flare.

Have you joined an online support group? I post on the UK fibro forum and it's very good, helps you feel less alone!

I also have loose joints to add to the fun.

I don't know if I am in denial or just don't have it very painfully yet but I try and just carry on. The ice freeze helped last night but turning the dial on the oven really hurt my wrist today.

When the kids go back to school I have told them we are walking both ways every day so hopefully that will help me lose weight as well as strengthen my body as I do feel it is weak at times.

Haven't joined a group as I don't feel I need it yet as it hasn't stopped me doing anything vital atm.

I have hurt my thumb after doing an emergency stop and can't put pressure on it. My wrist really hurts and I have arm pain too. This is frustrating but I am going to --be in denial- ignore it.

Thanks, I think he is. He stood on a nail yesterday and as it was still hurting this morning thought he had better get himself a tetanus jab as he hasn't had one for a long time.

Rest rest rest and more rest.

There are a load of medications on the market that can help (Lyrica, Cymbalta, Amitryptiline etc) but the best thing is pacing yourself, and rest.

TheOriginalFAB · 03/05/2011 19:25

I am on Amitryptiline at the moment. I find ice freeze helps but deep heat doesn't Confused.

I found acupuncture the best thing - have had it several times including through my pregnancy with DS2. Luckily the NHS here seem to recognise it as a good way of long term pain relief in chronic pain and fatigue sufferers.

Other than that, nap. Sleep. Painkillers. Strappings.

Shoshe · 03/05/2011 19:31

I find Ibrufen gel works the best, but I also take

Etodolac 600mg
Lansoprazole 15mg
Hydroxchloroquine Sulphate 200mg

Codeine Phospate 30mg 250

Some of those are for Lupus tho.

BrigitBigKnickers · 03/05/2011 19:37

I have mild fibro and often suffer with excruciating pain in my wrists. Pain killers (ibrufen seems to be the mnost effective) help a bit but there is really only one thing that helps me and that is to strap it up (with one of those wrist support thingies that fasten with velcro) and rest it for a day or so.

I used to have one with magnets in and found that very helpful too.

I have a arm/hand/wrist strappy thingy from ages ago when I was x-rayed at the hospital for arthritis. They said they didn't know what was wrong and it was probably from carrying my baby. TBH I didn't find it helped so I am wondering if I had it on right?? Confused

BrigitBigKnickers · 03/05/2011 20:07

I wrap mine up really tight so the joint is totally immobile. Always seems to work for me.

TheOriginalFAB · 03/05/2011 20:25

Do you sleep with it on and what about driving? I can walk the kids to school but have to drive DD to an appointment tomorrow afternoon.

OP posts:
BrigitBigKnickers · 03/05/2011 20:31

Yes I do sleep with it on (actually that seems to be the best time for me) and don't usually find driving a problem.

TheOriginalFAB · 03/05/2011 21:09

Thank you, I will give it a go.
