Letter sent by colleagues to GP as stating I was ill at work. Gp sent me without any examination to a clinic. I was given pills which resulted in me lying in bed with horrible images swirling around and a headache to beat any hangover. This is so awful I am cringing while writing this. Went back to clinic who blamed GP. By chance a friend advised me I had been diagnosed with a common condition and the contents of the letter and medicines confirmed this. Yes they had gone ont the letter and no I did not have this condition. Further investigations just carried on with docs using letter. Weird so weird!

Celibin I'm sorry but until you put a few personal pronouns into your writing, I will never understand what you're trying to say. So for instance, 'I was ill at work' instead of just 'ill at work 'etc etc because otherwise it is impossible to tell who these things were happening to and who said what. Just write a bit slower Smile

' Get second opinion (Qualified)' so you got a second opinion from a qualifiedpractitioner, yes?
':told diagnosed on letter as staff too busy' sorry I don't get this. Who told who what exactly?
'. Go to OH told must take treatment or else will not be signed as fit for work'

ok, the OH people said you have to take meds or you won't be able to work. Did you tell them the diagnosis wasn't made from examining you? what did they say about that?

' Second opinion unhappy and rels unhappy' about what?

'. We comeup with a condition so that can get back to work: OH happywith this : just tod them what they wanted to hear.'

So you decided with your relatives to invent a condition you could feasibly have, in order to fool the OH people into signing you as fit for work? Surely that's fraudulent and a bit weird in itself? And why does this mean you are still taking meds you don't actually need?

OK, if I've got this right, it reads as: you're ill at work, your GP only sees you to write a report for your employers who paid for the report? Am i doing OK so far?
You're given medication (lets call these 1st meds) which makes symptoms of illness worse so have to take others (meds 2, 3 etc) to counteract effects of 1st meds.

Now, you have a relative who is qualified medic and they disagree with the original diagnosis, but you agree with original diagnosis because that's what your employer wants to hear? Am I still doing OK?
Occupational Health basically tell you that you have to take your meds or you'll be written off on the sick, which will inevitably result in you losing your job (long term illness?). Have I got this right on this one?

  1. your GP should take you seriously and you should complain to the practice manager.
  2. your employer cannot dismiss you because you don't want to take meds for a condition you may not actually have.
  3. it seems unprofessional for a GP to diagnose a condition from a letter. Most GP's would need to see you personally to make an accurate diagnosis.

Will read this tomorrow, I'm knackered and off to bed now. Take care Smile.

Yes I did challenge the fiirst diagnosis and was told to return to GP. Clinic said they had nothing done wrong Second opinion did prescribe somthing better but was reluctant It was 2nd opinion doctor who suggested only way to get back to work was to say/do the right thing with OH.the relatives would not know this kind of thing. The medically qualified relative does not do anything else other than ensure family is taken care of. Ithink this person is able to judge better a med condition as knows family health. Strangers in a clinic will not know you hence going on a letter would be easiest option for them. Too lazy. Paranoid delusions: would like some .Where do I get them please? Oh I am post grad in psychology by the way.
