all evening ive been good and not given in to the itchy feeling on the back of my hands which get burnt and inflamed whenever im in the sun. And just now it was too much to bear and i scratched it. Now tomorrow or sooner its going to feel a whole lot worse...:(

pl can anyone recommend one that works and isnt really smellyy (most ive found seem to have half a bottle of perfume in!!)

An instant soother is to rub a fresh strawberry over the burned area, it takes the heat out of the skin.

E45 is a good start to soothe the dry/itchy feeling. Then something natural, Aloe Vera is ideal for sunburn/heat rash.

Chemist in the morning?

Failing that, baby lotion, or Piz Buin are my faves. You could try taking an antihystamine (SP?) to ease the itch and reduce and heat lumps. Try and keep your hands cool too.

Try some aloe vera. You could put it in the fridge before you apply it. It works wonders!

thanks for the ideas!! well of all those things what i have in my house is some emulsifying ointment (which is the stuff e45 is made of) so ive just slapped some of that on, its given me a bit of relief :) may try to get hold of some aloe vera too-arsenic do you use the leaves from a plant or do you buy a tube of the stuff?

am also trying my visualisations that i used to manage my postnatal pains- am imagining cool soothing liquid all over my hands....aaaahhhh

Either is good! But, i use a tube of organic aloe vera gel as no plants near by unfortunatly. Holland and barret/ boots etc sell it or any independant health shop.

Hope your hands feel better soon.

muslimah28 · 17/04/2011 22:42

thank you!!

and thanks notthemessiah my hands are still feeling less itchy :)

I love this one from GreenPeople no nasties and very effective. Pricey but a little goes a long way (I don't work for them honest!)

After sun is okay as long as you buy a decent quality one. I find nature provides a much better treatment. We went to Koh Samui for our honeymoon and me being me decided that I had enough sun protection on.

Nope! Red as a raddish by the time I came in. There were Aloe plants all around so a mmber off staff cut some and put it in the fridge in our apartment after seeing the state of me!

The less chemicals and perfumes the better. Hope you are feeling better today Smile

Definitely Aloe Vera from the fridge. Bliss on sun caught skin.

strandednomore · 18/04/2011 13:20

Another vote for aloe vera.

muslimah28 · 21/04/2011 23:34
