Help diagnose my knee pain please!

I have had a pain in my knee for a while, I have seen a rheumatologist and physiotherapist for other joint related issues and this has just been passed off but it hurts and I don't see how something that hurts this much can just be 'chronic pain' without something being wrong with it.

It is mainly my right knee, on the inside of the joint. If I sit on the sofa and have my legs up underneath me I can feel the joint 'pulling' a bit, when I go to straighten my legs it is the most excruciating pain ever, (ok yes I know I shouldn't sit like this but I do it automatically lol) I can pin point the pain to what feels like an area between two bones on my knee but not being medical i have no idea if there are even two bones in the knee lol!

Any ideas? Thank you :o)

It could be a torn cartilage or something to do with the cartilage if it feels its between the bones.
I have inflammatory arthritis, particularly bad in my left ankle and when it first flared up it felt as if it was pulling. I'd ask for an x-ray to see if there is any problem with it.

Do you have ra or fibro?I do and if I put my legs like that my knee 'locks' worst pain ever

I have suspected cartilage damage in my knee. It too causes pain when my legs are bent and then I straighten it. I actually can't straighten it for about 10 seconds.

I have been told surgery (arthroscopy?) is the only 'cure' but that was 14 years ago and I have managed to cope with it. (getting worse atm).

Have you ever had water on the knee?

I had pain between the bones of the knee. It felt in front and under the kneecap. Google "runner's knee" and see if it sounds like your pain.

I always sit like you and it turns out that this position has moved my kneecaps up and outwards a bit. This weakened inner thigh muscles, which in turn led to an inward step (over-pronation).

I was told to strengthen inner thigh muscles which would pull back the kneecap. And to avoid sitting with legs folded & crossed under me.
