Please tell me something, anything, that will work. I know time is the real answer, but they are really upsetting my little girl. She has them on the upper inside of her thigh and are really hurting. Can I use wart oil??? Really getting desperate now. In fact we have been desperate to get rid of them for ages. I think I spotted the first one about 3 or 4 months ago, but they seem to be spreading down her legs with a vengence. She is very conscious of them, and restarts swimming lessons from school in the Spring time. Please anyone!!

ds has had his for almost a year (I think). The ones under his arm came to a sort of head and burst little bits of blood everywhere - they now seem to be getting better (and hopefully disappearing!).

We have still been doing swimming lessons (but with one of those thin sun suit things on so the teacher didn't have to touch them).

It's a virus so unfortunately, I think it goes when it's due and ready.

Tea tree oil is great for this. One of my DD's was covered in them all down one side last year for months but after a week of dabbing tea tree oil on them every morning or evening they vanished.

assumpta · 02/11/2005 12:45

Thank you both. Funny enough, sandyballs, I started putting tea tree oil on them last night. It does say that it shouldn't be applied directly on to the skin without being diluted. What did you do?

I have used neat tea tree on warts and verrucas on both DDs with no side effects and very quick results. DD1 also has 3 spots of molluscum Whichare responding well. I have only used on small areas of skin, though

Do you just dap it on with cotton wool?

I use a cotton wool bud to avoid putting too much on the surrounding skin.

they have a life and do die. DS had some on his face and had them burnt off! DD had some. I confess to popping them. It hurt but they wanted rid. didnt leave any marks..but I am not saying do it..very bad mummy

sandyballs · 02/11/2005 13:16

I used cotton wool and used the oil neat, didn't seem to affect the surrounding skin and my DD has very sensitive eczema prone skin. The results were truly amazing and I was very sceptical at first but desperate to try anything as, like your DD, they were upsetting her, especially on her inner thigh where they would rub on the other leg and get sore. Literally one week and they had all completely gone.

assumpta · 02/11/2005 13:21

Heres hoping and praying to get rid of them. I have seen someone else pop their childs. It looked almost like a tiny ball of white fat, but was quite hard.

I went to the doctors for DS and he prescribed a cream which seemed to work

auntymandy · 02/11/2005 13:29

it was years ago we were given some stuff but didnt work..hense teh popping!

KBear · 02/11/2005 21:09

Excuse me butting in here but is molluscum white raised bumps or red? My DS has a red raised spot on his leg I've just noticed and he has had one before. I left it alone and it disappeared but I never knew what it was. Could this be the dreaded molluscum?

LIZS · 02/11/2005 21:14

They tend to be pale raised spots as they have cream fluid inside, although may get inflamed from time to time though.

KBear · 02/11/2005 21:15

Thanks LIZS, the one DS has is like a little blood blister so doesn't sound like it then! I think I'll leave it alone.

assumpta · 02/11/2005 21:49

I am going to continue for the next week putting tea tree oil on them and will report back the results. Here's hoping they are good.

how did it go assumpta?

daisy1999 · 09/11/2005 18:36

any results yet?

Tobim · 09/11/2005 22:03

My dd1 had molluscum for over a year when she first started school - on her body and arms but the worst were all over the backs of her legs. She knocked them off constantly so they bled and she got awful scars. She also had to put up with a fair bit of name-calling at school and I once heard her referred to as 'the girl with all the warts'. We tried some lavender and tea tree cream for a while, rubbing it in twice a day. This did get rid of some of them over a few months but the cream came in minute pots and was quite expensive for the return we got. We also tried dabbing neat tea tree oil on them but her skin is quite sensitive and this tended to irritate it. In the end I took her to see a friend who is a homeopath. We had a 2-hour consultation and she was given a remedy. A couple of weeks later all the spots had gone. I have to admit that until that point I did not really know what I thought about homeopathy but it did the trick.
