Centerparcs vomiting bug

Hi everyone. We've just returned from centerparcs Nottingham .. Had to come back early as my ds (21 months) caught a vomiting bug after going in the baby pool there. Now myself and my husband have had it too. Has anyone else had this experience? Centerparcs will not comment or give any refund as they said their hygiene is good. Xx

li33i - that's why children wear swim nappies. In case they poo, so it doesn't get in the water. What else would you expect in a baby pool.

I would say that public pools, including those at CP and Butlins etc, are not going to be the cleanest places on earth and you should encourage your children not to drink the water.

And "in your eyes" ...not very scientific, is it?

You son may have caught it from any door handles, anyone sneezing anywhere near, sitting in a supermarket trolley etc.

These bugs frequently go around places like Centre Parcs, and there is nothing they can do. Similarly they go around Cruise ships.

I'm slight;ly concerned as a lot of my family have just gone there, and two of them have health problems, I hope they don't get it.

However, the best prevention is anti-bacterial gel, used a lot. And cleaning hard surfaces. However everyone does get them from time to time.

I wil never go back to CP after ur last experience at Elvedon with Norovirus. I don't blame CP as such, just the close proximity of lots of young children. However, we were actually in the main pool when a child threw up in it and they did not even close the pool. Just one area of it while they sieved it -yuck. I did complain and was told they follow official guidelines.

And have to disagree with the comment about antibacteria gel. The only thing that kills the Norovirus is bleach which you will obviously not clean your hands with. The best advice is to wash them properly with soap and water. The slipperiness of the soap makes the bugs slide off the hands and into the water and downi the drain.

The only way to prevent infections like that is to stay indoors in your own house and Milton everything. And I still bet you'd get a bugh from time to time!

And who would want to live like that, anyway.

Centerparcs holidays have been the healthiest ones I've ever brought the kids on! Fresh air, walking and cycling, loads of sports. Can't be beaten, IMO.

Its going round school (not horrendously, but a bit). A 24 hour one, with headache. No CP round here Smile

That said, the worst food poisoning my dh ever had was from a restaurant in Nottingham - don't think we can blame the area, though Wink
