D&v going on for 4 days+, what should I do?

any help appreciated. Have caught a d&v bug from ds1 - he had it for a couple of days and was then fine.

I've had d&nausea altho not actually been sick since tues and usually just reckon on drinking rehydrate stuff and eating a bit of rice or dry toast or apple when you start feeling you need a bit of food. And avoid diareeze etc unless you need it as an emergency measure to get home...

But it never usually goes on this long so now wondering if it is likely I have got something other than a basic 48hour bug and if so, what should I do?

Dh thinks I should take a tablet and at least get some juice on board but I worry this means the bug will stay around even longer.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

If I 've got a bug that's hanging around longer than expected I try to starve it out. I have nothing but water for 24 hours.

It usually does the trick, hope you feel better soon

Thanks browncoats, that what i was trying to do, didn't eat anything to start with but thought it was a bit better after a couple of days which is when I had the plain rice and raw apple but bug just doesn't seem to want to go.

And was only having the rehydrate stuff as have been told previously that it's good to have if possible when you have diarrhoea but now just want to get rid I'd this wretched bug!

I know how you feel. My DS is just starting to get over D&V that's lasted all week! I've had him at the Drs 3 times and they keep saying just to keep on giving him the rehydrating stuff (which he hardly touches as he doesn't like the taste) and failing that, water.

Today is the first day since Monday that he's actually eaten anything substantial (wheetabix, 2 slices of toast and a banana). Usually he'll quite happily munch his way through my entire kitchen if I let him. He's lost so much weight and I was so stressed about it.

It sounds like you have a similar thing. If I were you I'd keep the food to a bare minimum and just keep up with the water in small sips.

I don't know if you know already (apologies if you do) but stay well away from dairy produce - bad bad bad effect. Smile
