My most beloved father has been told he has one or another & is going for a CT scan on Monday.

He has led a blameless life as far as his lungs are concerned & still climbs in the Himalayas in his 60s, tell me it's the former, & if so, what does that mean?

Hi spiders, just popping back to see how your dad is. Did he have his scan today? Hope it all went smoothly.

Hi Pip, thanks for asking, he did, he'll get the reulst next Tuesday (sooner if they find anything truly horrid) but had his blood results & all seemed to point in the direction of infection rather than anything more pernicious.

Looks like pluerisy with pneumonia, which though unpleasant, is treatable.

As to what they found on the x-ray & why it's there, we'll have to wait to find out.

Spoke to him yesterday & he was sounding more chipper so.........fingers crossed...........

Glad he's sounding upbeat, the waiting must be getting you both down.
I'll cross my fingers too Grin.

Just checking back- fingers crossed across the pond!

Hello all, CT scan says n'owt that the x-rays didn't say, lungs are clear & blood O2 fine, so looks like horrid infection. Going for a ultrasound guided aspiration on Thursday to try and ascertain the problem in the pleura.

So all OK I think (other than persistant infection).

But thank you for your support when I needed it.

And why I love (though DH says it's wrong) MN.

Hope they manage to bash the infection on the head soon.
Glad it's going well for you both.
Guided aspiration is fine, a tiny bit scary to think about but the HCPs are so good at what they do. It's quite satisfying when they manage to get a good dollop of junk out.
