DD2 has a bald patch on her crown. Any ideas regarding what it could be?

I only noticed it yesterday - it's triangular in shape and is approx 1.51.51cm in size.

The skin is slightly dry and I can see a few empty follicles and a few short sharpish hairs, almost as though they have been cut (but she denies it), but I would imagine regrowth from a hair that has fallen out naturally would be quite fine.

I don't know if this could be related, but I have noticed over that past few weeks that she is pulling out individual hairs as a habit. I have obviously asked her to stop, but to no avail (she's a chronic nail-biter too). She says when she pulls hairs out she's doing it from the sideburn area, and this tallies with what I have seen her doing.

I will make an appointment with her GP tomorrow, but am sitting here pondering and wondered if anyone on here has any experience.

Thanks.

Smile

ringworm?

DS2 had that & ended up with a big roundish bald patch, on top of his head rather than at the crown - took ages to deal with & get rid. I think it needs antifungal (if that is what your DD has???)

good luck Smile

it did, after using lots of antifungal on it. Ringworm is kind of like athlete's foot, only circular - you can get it anyway on the body but obviously it has more impact in your hair!

when it grew back it was slightly different from the rest of his hair for a long time (although you wouldn't have noticed it if you didn't know about it)

good luck with GP anyway Smile
