Breast Enlargement on the NHS

Hi all, probably will get flamed for this but I'm going to ask anyway. I am severely flat chested, I literally have no boobs. When I don't wear a padded bra I look like a boy. I don't feel womanly, it gets me down so much I can't even take my DD swimming. I can't afford to go private I was wondering if anyone knew it was avaliable on the NHS? I don't want it to look like a glamour model I just want to be able to feel normal. Just have some boobs! Any info would be appreciated. (Hank you!

Hmmm is this real ??
When already there's a postcode lottery for the provision of certain cancer treatments, I'm not sure there is nor should there be any money left in the pot for elective cosmetic surgery. Slighjtly different for ladies with very heavy large breasts giving them chronic back ache, when sometimes a reduction can be offered by the NHS.

Always worth going to the GP to ask. If they feel your mental health is being significantly affected by it, you may be offered one. I would have thought you'd have to be in quite a bad way (psychologically) though. I had a breast reduction on the NHS, for backache, but also because of how it was making me feel, and had done for years. This seemed to be the major 'assessing' point for the surgeon (at least that was the impression I got, may be wrong).

canihave was it really necessary to make the OP feel even worse than she already does? AFAIK there are different budgets for everything anyway, so the OP having breast augmentation will not mean that a cancer sufferer does not get the treatment they need.

Ask you gp, there may not be funding for this in your area though no matter how genuine you are, there will also likely be a waiting list a few years long.

I had mine done privately and am by no means well off, I got a hospital 'credit card' to pay for it and paid it off over a couple of years, it was through BMI if thats any help to you.

Go and ask.
My friend was offered a tummy tuck on the NHS a few years back.

I would say it's extremely unlikely. But if it's getting to you that much, go and see your GP. They can refer you for CBT or counselling which could make you feel much better about it. Think Kate Moss!
