Anyone else had pre cancerous Glandular cells of the cervix?

Had a Colposcopy today and treatment to remove the cells of the cervix and a biopsy taken.

Was told I had pre cancerous Glandular cells. After doing some research about it on internet I found that abnormalities of the Glandular cells are less common and more serious. Bugger..?

Looking to hear from people who have had the same! Feeling grim *

If you've found it, had it taken out and treated then surely you're fine now?

I had pre-cancerous cells but couldn't tell you what sort they were, can't remember if anyone said.

As far as I'm concerned I don't anymore.

Is that how it is with you?

Hmmm well I stupidly did research on internet and because they are Glandular cells which can come from your ovaries, fallopian tubes or lining, it could mean there's cancer there already.

It's the Damn internet that's got me worried. Surely if I had cancer, they would have told me.

I have pre cancerous cells and they are going to establish what grade they are so they can decide what follow up tests and treatments i need.

I've made myself feel better just by writing it down here on mumsnet. Cool!

Have you had a look at either the colposcopists' website or Jo's trust forum? The first has information about abnormal results and treatment, the second is primarily aimed at women who have/having investigation for cervical abnormalities and cancer. There's a lot of support there.
In the majority of cases pre-cancerous changes of glandular cells are usually meaning endocervical cells. The cervical epithelium or skin has two main types of cells: (1) squamous cells which like those on your arms, face etc and are quite tough and have a protective function (2) endocervical cells which produce the mucus in the canal. They can also refer to cells from the endometrium, ovary etc.
Obviously I don't know which cells they are in your case.
The main thing to concentrate on is that they've been picked up and you're already being investigated and had treatment.

They are pre-cancerous which means caught before they are cancer? Do you have regular smear tests and was this after a smear tests? If so I would probably be pleased it was all found in time...
