I've just had my colposcopy results, and I have CIN 2 and need to have loop diathermy treatment next Wednesday.

Does anyone have experience of this?

I've had LLETZ, I can never remember if it's the same thing Blush.

Got stuff to do but will check back later.

Yes i've had diathermy loop procedure.

I had to go to the JR in Oxford which was my local hospital at the time. They went in vaginally, and had to cautorize cells that they had found to be pre-cancerous. They also took a biopsy of my cervix.

Afterwards I felt a bit woozy (I was awake for it), and against recommedation I took the bus home (why didn't I just get a cab!). I had some pain and cramping in tummy, like period, and had very dark brown blood with clumps. This continued for about four days if I remember rightly.

Buy some thick pads, not tampons. And I remember there being a restriction on sex and tampons before/after.

Just rest up after, you're not going to have the inclination to be running around anywhere.

Good luck, feel free to ask anythign and i'll try to remember!

I have - about 12 years ago though, so it's a bit hazy. The main thing I remember is that there was quite a lot of bleeding immediately afterwards. Even maternity pads might be a good idea, IMO. Something fairly hefty anyway Grin.

I felt rather delicate afterwards, but it didn't hurt much, iirc. Use it as an excuse to take it easy.

Oh yes, and there were restrictions on flying for a few weeks (6?) afterwards, I discovered after I'd booked a flight. I had to cancel it and book a very expensive train at the last minute.

Take a friend - for the lift home and the hand-holding. I had mine a while ago but as said in previous posts I had some bleeding, cramping and felt quite sorry for myself...upside is it sorted the problem out (and thats a big up for me).
Plan some rest days afterwards - have some help with any kids - don't be a hero...be pampered for a few days!

Thank you, everyone. I have no intention of being a hero :)

I think I'll book the following day off work.
