ive been getting pain on and off right where you would get the pain from gallstones for the past 3 weeks ,i saw my gp who did say its a possibility but i havent had an attack which i gather is very painfull ,its a hot pain that comes and goes every few minutes and is worse after food- also been through a whole packet of gaviscon is 5 days
any help would be appreciated

I think so, I had gallstones and had my gallbladder removed 18 months ago. I had my first attack when my son was a baby but I also had an extremely uncomfortable weekend when I was pregnant with pain exactly where my gallstone pain turned out to be, it was painful on and off the whole weekend and at the time we put it down to a foot or something being in an awkward place but once I'd had an attack I think it was actually the beginning of my gallstones.
For me the attacks were always shortly after food (and chocolate seemed to be a particular trigger), they were excruciatingly painful (think labour) but thankfully they only lasted about 10 minutes and were slightly eased by lying on my left hand side.

she could refer you for a scan to see if you have got gall stones. also she could do a blood test to see if it is affecting your liver function

Gall stone pain is horrid it was the worst pain I have ever had, go to your doctors straight away and get them to check it out. I was told to avoid dairy and fatty foods which sort of helped. If you do get an attack another slightly odd thing my friend told me to do was roll on the floor, I know it sounds mad but it moves the stones around. I had my Gallbladder out several years ago by keyhole surgery which was quick and fairly painless.
Hope this is of some help.
