Blistering easily, unlucky, FM/M.E. related or something else??

I'm wondering if anyone on here has any ideas on this as its driving me nuts ATM :(

My skin, usually feet, goes through phases where it seems to blister if you so much as look at it the wrong way Hmm ...right now I have several large blisters across the backs of my heels & a couple on my toes & its making walking really difficult as no matter how much I pad them, its bl@@dy painful, so I', now back in my Crocs flip flops - not ideal as too cold & I already get Raynauds problems & my feet look like I've been in a bad accident Angry

These don't have to come from new shoes, often from shoes I've worn in & are usually comfortable - this episode started with trainers I've had a long while, & then made worse by changing to another pair of very soft moccasin type loafers, new but worn before without problem - my cowboy boots which I often wear started blistering my ankles :(

On occasions I've have had the same on my hands too, though with little friction that I remember, veg peeler, scissors etc

Anyone have any ideas on this??

I do have other health problems, including the ME/FM diagnosis mentioned in the title, not something I've read about, but is this something other sufferers deal with too??

Thanks :)

Me too, it can be linked to zinc deficiency which affects connective tissue and skin repair. This has improved for me since I went gluten free, started supplementing it and eating red meat. Are you vegeterian? Coz it was a nightmare when I was, was blistering at chopping up veg.
ME/FM could possibly be linked as many autoimmune conditions start initially from immune system reaction to gluten in wheat and gluten affects absorption of zinc.

Have you looked up delayed pressure urticaria? I get this on my feet (standing too long, walking a long way) and hands (holding heavy bags, holding kitchen implements too tightly) and where my clothes have been too tight.

I can feel when it's coming on after one of the triggers above and it takes days to resolve and I can get left with blisters/scarring.

Ps on my feet it doesn't look like typical urticaria (does on my hands/body though)

Thanks both of you :)

I will look into that foxinsox - just incase, but DD gets uticaria as part of her food/additive problems, so I think I know what that is & it probably isn't that, but I might well be be wrong - thanks

Very interesting nightcat having googled & reminded myself on zinc deficiency - brain dead & can't remember toffee right nowHmm I realise I've a LOT more symptoms that fit that too - didn't know blistering easy could be a symptom though, - & today getting angular chellitis in the corners of my mouth again tooHmm

I'm Pescetarian, & do eat a lot of fish etc, so I should be okay on zinc, everything really as I eat very healthily - but weirdly I've been craving steak - I am a firm believer in if I'm craving something, my body needs it, so I do give into it occasionally - but I generally don't eat meat as amongst other reasons I just don't digest it very easily.

I do think you might of hit the nail on the head though as far as poor digestion - I've just been re tested for Coeliac Disease, as I read somewhere that you are meant to load up on gluten before the blood test - I wasn't told that by my GP & as I know I'm wheat intolerant, like lactose, it affects my stomach badly if I eat it regularly or too much & due to DDs & my own health problems, we probably don't generally eat a lot of gluten/wheat normally - but I have been eating lots lately in prep for the blood test - hadn't ocurred to me that might be the cause of the blistersShock

mind you, that said my immune system has been shot all winter - just 1 darn virus after another, so you've got me wondering now

What are your nails like? Mine were peeling/flaking in layers, also my hair was completely matt, no shine whatsoever, only recently I noticed that it actually has a bit of shine, but we have been gf and eating better for about 5 years now. It all started when I was trying to help my ds, another thing I do regularly is make jelly, as I think jelly is like supplementing collagen/connective tissue building materials.
My ds is still very low in aminoacids, so I am working through that. WHen they are growing is no good depriving them of building materials as even tho a lot of veg might contain some protein, we as humans can't break up the cellulose walls (like cows would) and it all just ends up as a fibre in fibre out.
Zinc is also strongly linked to immunity, which might be relevant for you.

Funnily enough my usually very strong nails were okay until this last few days, but have been flaking & splitting & I've also noticed my hair isn't what it used to be of late.

I'm not necessarily putting it down to Gluten though it is possible (coeliac in my family), but unlikely as have been GF in the past for years & no real improvement as such, but wheat, beer etc does affect me -

I have been having stomach problem lately, best described as feel "blocked" but I'm having problems getting my GP to take it very seriously, the coeliac re test was as far as she would - the dry skin, rashes & other symptoms all started when I started on a new BP drug, so I'm wondering if that might be at fault, also it seems to be making other FM & ME symptoms worse, so I'm needing to take more pain drugs - which in turn affect my digestive tract - so the mal- absorbtion could make a lot of sense even if its not Gluten related - definitely looks like I need to top up on zinc - but ideally need my GP to see that I'm likely not digesting food properly

Meds can affect absorption, but I have no experience of BP meds, maybe check out side effects? I always like to know how they work, as I found out with my dad thhat they fix something but affect something else as well.
They could also affect liver enzymes.
Ask for liver enzyme and vit/minerals tests maybe?
