Haemophilus influenza type b (Hib)
Meningitis C
Measles, mumps and rubella
Pneumococcal infection

All at the same time??!!
DS is 13months.

Any help? I am a bit worried!

My DS is overdue on all of those and a few others.

I've spoken to the practise nurse and requested to have them all done separately, to which she agreed, starting with Men C.
If we ever get round to booking them, that is. He's 20 months now.

Why are you waiting??

because I hated the idea of flooding his little immune system with so many chemicals, toxins and other wonderful things at the same time.
between 6 and 12 months he had a lot of colds and a couple of chest infections, and I just didn't want to add anything into the mix.

I'm not really sure about having them done at all, which is why I just stumbled into this corner of MN, to be honest.

It is a lot. Lots of people delay. I would spread them out.

trouble is your DS is big enough to remember so each visit will be more and more horrible for him. Get them all done in one go, there is no evidence at all that it is harmful (and in fact some evidence saying that the body reacts better to multiple simultaneous challenges) and will make your life far easier than dragging a screaming toddler back for jab after jab (and IMO wasting the nurses's time by going more than once)

DD had them all done together, but in France they put HiB, pneumococcal etc together so you get 5 or 6 in one shot and another is MMR.

She was totally fine btw.

winnybella · 07/04/2011 21:06

Oh, she didn't have Men C but the paed said it's totally fine to give with MMR so that's what she'll have very soon (as we're late for the second MMR by a couple of months).

I think if you haven't any concerns about his health, no serious immune diseases in the family etc than it should be ok-although obv. it's all up to you.
