My baby is 6 months old and I am still aching in places I never knew I had muscles!!!! I thought I would have bounced back to health but I seem to be working my way through the minor illness guide at the moment!! do you think I could be lacking in something???

It takes 9 months to a year to recover fully from pregnancy as I recall. Plus the lack of sleep doesn't help.

afaik the only way to speed up the process is to eat well, exercise and relax often!

Oooh, I'd forgotten all the new places you ache after having a child!!! A mixture of your body going back to normal after pregnancy, and using completely different muscles than normal what with the carrying child, cuddling child etc.

Relax lots (with wine ).

I ache appreciably more than I used to.
Ds is 15 months.
My m/w told me your body needs a year to recover.

My DS is 1 on Wednesday & I'm still aching, specially in the shoulder and neck region. Biggest ache though is the heart ache when they hurt themselves & this will ever go.

A year!!! so I have another 6 months of feeling like an old lady, the main area of pain is in the small of my back, I used to love laying on my front to read a book but now I cannot prop myself up on my elbows as it feels like my back is about to snap!!!! Great!! How comes nobody mentioned that you feel and look crap for a year when I was pregnant!!!!!

I'm glad in a way though that it isn't just me feeling that way!

Janmad · 25/10/2005 21:39

ha ha I'm just glad I'm not the only one!! but I am on a mission. Joined weight watchers and got a new haircut even if I just drag it back in pony tail I know I will look nice if I have more than 30 secs to do it in the morning (thats if I get the chance to brush it before DH comes home!)

DS 9 months and I don't feel knitted together properly. It's like I could break anywhere at any moment. Didn't realise it took so long so heartning that I'm not the only one. Am due blood test results tomorrow though to see if there is something more. Any advice on when the hormones go back to normal and when periods come back? Stopped b/f over 2 months ago and nada!

Janmad · 25/10/2005 22:14

After 9 months I would have thought your periods would be in working order! you could be lacking in something, but your blood tests will tell you that.
My mother in law got me some vitamins from Holland and Barratt(think thats how you spell it) as my hair has really fallen out, to be honest I was realy worried, thought I was going bald (as well as bunging up the plumbing!!) but she said that loads of new mums buy them as you are so ravaged after giving birth you just need help to get back to form!
Before I had DD I considered myself pretty active now I have the fitness levels of Dot Cotton (without the fags)!!!

Yup, my hair is only just growing back.. I have a dreadful look of Rod Stewart in the 70s. Thick underneath with wispy bits on top

Janmad · 25/10/2005 22:21

Ha ha that brings to mind a funky image!
Dont stress about it to much though, things will right themselves in the end.
