I have been booked in for these three procedures on 28th March and just wondered if anyone had had them before and had any advice or suggestions...I have booked the week off work but I don't really know what to expect Confused.
Any advice would be very welcome x

I've had the first two, and it wasn't too bad - you do wake up with a bit of pain, but they are very good at giving you whatever pain meds you need. Drink peppermint tea for the 'gas' pains - the air they use to inflate your abdomen so they can see what they are doing takes a while to reabsorb, and it can hurt either in your belly or in your shoulder. Peppermint tea can help the reabsorption, apparently!

I walked like a duck for a day or two, but then was fine...do take it easy Smile

Thanks Eli. Great tip on the peppermint tea, I'll stock up!

I had the first 2 and another laparoscopy less than a year later.

Even though it is keyhole surgery, be prepared for it to be pretty painful after (but not unbearable). I couldn't straighten up for a few days and it did take about a week to recover properly.

In bed, as I couldn't lay out flat, I used one of the big cushions from the back of the sofa to put under my knees so my legs were elevated, like they would be in hospital if you have one of those beds where you can adjust your head or feet. Felt much better for my stomach.

Good luck.
