Bad vaccination reaction

DD is 14 weeks old and has just had her second lot of vaccinations. She had what I think is a bad reaction - very swollen legs, some facial swelling, slight fever and very very unhappy for 36 hours. I'm reluctant for her to have the third lot as feel any further reaction may be more severe. How vital are the third lot? Has anyone else had a similar experience?

It does sound like an allergic reaction - speak to your dr and express how concerned you are feeling about this.

how "vital "they are depends on your point of view. However you do not have to make a decision right away. The DTP used to be far more spread out than it is now- and is still more spread out in other countries eg the States. Your GP may not be much help and it may be worth asking for a referral to someone experienced in allergies, or an immune specialist.

Ds had bad reaction to third Hib jab but had his booster Hib today with no probs at all, if that's any help.

My ds also had the reactions you describe to his first lot of vaccinations at 8 weeks (or was it 10 weeks?). I was worried sick and went to see a doctor about it who told me it was all within the norm. He had only very mild reactions to his second and third lot.

just typed a message only to loose it and haven't got the heart to do the full story again(sorry)
yesterday my dd aged 3 had her hib booster(i had previously put it off and spoken to the nurse in the clinic due to bad previous reactions)
my dd is on a dairy/lactose free diet and has been since 12weeks(and tested frequently with small samples to see if she has outgrown it)but is still on the above diet strictly.
The nurse gave dd the injection and she promptly was sick in the surgery for a good 15 mins.
After a short while we decided to chance it and head for home-thinking it would be easier to settle her.
On the way home I started reading the leaflet given to me after dd had had her injection and to my horror the hib vaccine contains lactose....
Still too traumatised and upset to think of what could have been(especially after a bad night and day with dd)
just want to warn others
