High temp - what to do?

Both DP and my flatmate have flu and a high temp. We can't say how high as the only thermometer I can find is a fertility thermometer, which only goes up to 39

So all we can say is my friend's more than 39.
DP hasn't measured his temp but he;s in bed and looks pretty ill.

When do you worry about temperature? What do you do? At what point do you call the Dr?

Cheers

Paracetamol, reduce the clothing, open the window a tiny bit to get some cool air circulating but put a layer back on if getting shivery - shivery will drive the temp up higher.

Sipping lots of cool drinks. They will probably feel better when the temp comes down.

Call Dr if seems very unwell generally - eg confused/unable to drink/hard to rouse, temp over 40 and not coming down with treatment. Call Dr anyway if they have other health problems eg diabetic on insulin or cancer patient.

Thanks Smile

I feel I should know these things, but I don't Blush

They've both had paracetamol, my flatmate seems OK in herself. DP is in bed and complaining of being cold.

DS (age 2 and asleep) is showing signs of being unwell too, but not as hot as the others. What are the danger signs with a little one?

My flatmate says thanks btw Smile

She's sitting in the armchair with a duvet and box of tissues. She says she feels like an old lady.
