Large open blister on back of heel :(

It appeared on Thursday morning thanks to some new boots. It's now Tuesday and it doesn't seem to be healing at all :(.

It's about the size of a twenty pence piece and it hurts like hell. I can't put a plaster on it because it makes it weep lymph fluid but I can't have it uncovered because it hurts like hell and the slightest touch or knock makes it very sore, It bled a lot on Sunday for no reason. I can't wear shoes, even slippers because it just gets irritated and weeps or bleeds. It will not dry out.

The blister itself looks like a healthy red colour but the skin around the blister my heel is red. I have absolutely no idea what to do with it, its driving me mad!

Apply lavender oil to it, which will help it heal and dry up.

Put a plaster over it when you have to wear shoes.

When you don't have to wear shoes go barefoot and let it dry out.

It will heal eventually.

There are special plasters to go over blisters that you can buy in Boots or other chemists. I think they're called 'Compeed' plasters. I believe they're specifically designed to cope with moist wounds. They're a bit pricey but effective.

Compeed are absolutely fantastic. Not cheap (Sainsburys I know do their own brand version which are also pretty good, possibly Tesco or Boots do as well). They stay put where normal plasters get caught/shift or whatever on that part of your foot. One plaster will stay for at least 2 days so in the long run you use less AND don't run the risk of rubbing and worsening so giving a proper chance to heal.

Instant relief, highly recommend.

I agree with Anonymous and Jalopy.

Compeed is a miracle cure.

Ds2 had a similar blister at the beginning of the year and it wouldnt heal with normal plasters etc. I was recommended Compeed and altho the plaster stayed on for 10 days, it was completely healed when it came off! I was well impressed!!!
