My DS is 4 and since Monday he has been saying his tongue hurts.
I have been checking his tongue and mouth but have not noticed anything to be causing his discomfort. This morning he said his tongue was hurting again and when i looked this time I noticed on the tip of his tongue some tiny spots.
Also in the corner of his mouth is a spot (which was not there yesterday)with a white head on it. Could this be mouth ulcers? I have bought some Bonjela to apply after school.

Is he run down/recovering from anything? I get these little spots if I'm run down and they do get really sore.

I try to get plenty of rest, good diet etc and they clear up soonish.

Is he otherwise well? Does he have any spots anywhere else? Hand, foot and mouth can cause spots in the mouth, as can measles.

His health is fine. No recent cold or anything like that. As for any more spots I will be checking him after school.

Mounth Ulcers look like blisters, both me and mum have been plagued by them, though thankfully I seem to have grown out of them. Agree, that if you are run down/tired etc you can get them. Try Bonjela, Ambesol is also good (not sure if suitable for children) or just use a antibacterial mouth wash.

they don't sound like mouth ulcers to me

Well checked DS for more spots. No more in mouth , none on hand/foot. so am going with mouth ulcers at the moment.
Applied bonjela after school with no problem. tried again at bedtime and had a big drama about not liking it.

mmm but bonjela's yummy
I used to have quite a lot of mouth ulcers when I was little and I think I was possibly addicted to the stuff

I second Anbesol. Very good (though might be too strong for a 4-y-o). In extreme cases of huge gigantic mouth ulcers that were threatening to take over the world starting with my mouth (!), I have got stuff from the drs which works like magic... tiny weeny pill-like things which you let dissolve on the ulcer. But I hope your ds doesn't need them!
