Dd2 has been scratching her head like mad over the past few days. I've looked, dh has looked, and my mum (ex-teacher, plenty of experience!!!) has looked - can't see any nits or lice. But her scalp, round the edges (behind her ears), and down the back of her neck, has sore patches on it.

We haven't changed her shampoo or our washing powder recently - I am mystified. Any ideas?

martianbishop - so you think they are not hatched eggs I have found? I did I think find one live grown one....do you need two to mate do you know?

Some people say the eggs are opaque and cream coloured - what are these cos I have never found them on DS...?

They are opaque and cream coloured once they have hatched, ie are emply. they are brownish before they hatch. the newly hatched lice are very small, and look like tiney splinters with legs! A sort of medium brown colour.

You need two to make, but they can shift heads while ready to lay eggs!

They are present in 4 sizes, they grow so much and then shed their skin, and jump in size

have a shufti at this

Have just had a mammoth combing session with ds who is 11 and still full of them!I find putting neat tea tree through the hair and then combing it about 1 hr later gets loads out with the nitty gritty comb. Then wash condition and comb again a bot of a faff but works Unfortunately the friend of ds's who is riddled with them is coming to stay tomorrow overnight! His parents are v posh and find it highly amusing so shall prob be combing again this week.Drive me nuts!

Salcura Dermaspray is fantastic for an itchy head.
