I am very sorry to hear you in pain, I have every sympathy with you.
How old is your child? How close is he to the point of not needing to be lifted/pushed etc so much? And being able to help with tidying?
When my DC were just 3 and just 2, in the space of six months I basically could not do a thing, I had double back surgery and was fortunate, I suppose that I was working as I had day care arranged, which of course continued even during the periods when I was on sick leave. So that covered me for quite a lot of my recuperation, but only for X hours per day.
I genuinely can't remember how I coped though, when it was just me and DC. It's all a blur of appointments, operations, drugs and treatments and I've kind of blocked much of it out!
Fortunately DD, the younger of the two became very independent very quickly (well, she had to) so she would walk everywhere, not ask to be lifted, climb into the car. We abandoned our buggy around this time. I also put her in a bed so I didn't have to lift in and out of a cot.
I had physio (which was utter crap, for me anyway) but found some comfort and improvement with my wonderful wonderful osteopath. Unfortunately I have moved away from that area so no longer see her.
Now they are 5 and 6, so there is absolutely no lifting and they have to help with tidying etc.
Sorry i can't give you anything rock solid, but I know precisely what you are going through.
Good luck.
