Abdomen problem in male

DizzyDummy · 03/03/2011 00:07

Has anyone got any idea what could be wrong with my DP. He is in his late 40's, he has lower abdomen pain/discomfort, his bowel movements are normal although he has had some blood in his stools (could well be piles) He still feels as if he wants to move his bowels for the rest of the day but nothing happens if he does go to the loo. The discomfort eases slightly (and apologies if this is TMI)if he ejaculates or urinates. He feels that the problem isn't in his urinary tract but in his bowel area. Any advice would be appreciated.

Is it new or old blood? Dried and dark or red? PLEASE see a doctor ASAP as I can think of a number of quite serious things this could be as well as some fairly harmless ones.

DrSeuss Thank you so much for the reply, we have been very worried about this. The blood is red and not dried. He has been to the doctors and although the doctor didn't seem worried about his symtoms, at our insistence, they have taken stool, blood and urine samples a few days ago and we are now waiting for the results. Am I right in thinking that they would show up if anything was seriously wrong? I think what is worrying my DP is that he feels there is something wrong but the doctor doesn't think there is and maybe isn't taking him seriously. Sorry for the ramble, hope this makes sense?

As far as i understand it, the blood tests would show any really awful stuff. Fresh blood sounds more like piles than anything worse.

Hope so, just waiting for the test results.
