I CANNOT stop fucking itching. Its my belly, my hips, my back, my neck and my arms. WTF is it? I look like I've got fleas. No rash.

washing powder? drugs? lice? scabies?

belledechocchipcookie · 01/03/2011 11:07

Are you pregnant?

NormanTheForeman · 01/03/2011 11:08

I often get very itchy at this time of year. I think it's a combination of cold weather, and being indoors with the heating on. I usually start itching in about January and it goes away around Easter time....

RockinSockBunnies · 01/03/2011 11:09

Are you taking any medication (even if it's not new medication, you can gradually become allergic to it).

Also - double check it's not scabies. Jeez those hideous little creatures itch....

suwoo · 01/03/2011 11:09

That long Norman? Fuck.

No to drugs unfortunately, and pregnancy. Scabies? Shall I google it?

OP posts:
castlesintheair · 01/03/2011 11:10

I'm the same. I took an antihistamine yesterday and it worked a treat but back itching today.

belledechocchipcookie · 01/03/2011 11:11

You'd have red scabs in between your fingertips/elbow creases if it's scabies. Have you changed your washing powder/shower gel?

You sure you're not pregnant?

thomasbodley · 01/03/2011 11:13

Scabies, lice, allergic reaction to internal or external agent, urticaria, anaemia, EFA deficiency, vitamin B deficiency...

Could be anything. Doctor will be less frightening than google.

suwoo · 01/03/2011 11:13

Deffo not pg- not physically possible. The main areas that are itchy are my neck (under my long hair) the back of my shoulders, inner elbow and wrists. Oh and the waistband area which shits me up that I've got fucking scabies. No rash though or marks of any kind.

OP posts:
suwoo · 01/03/2011 11:14

Should I make a Dr appt? Really. What if I've got scabies, I'll die of shame Blush.

belledechocchipcookie · 01/03/2011 11:17

It doesn't sound like scabies as there's no rash. They burrow into all of the warm places, like armpits and in between fingers. Have you tried taking an antihistamine?

thomasbodley · 01/03/2011 11:18

I swear your doctor won't care. My dad's a retired GP and has even had scabies himself (from staying in a dodgy hotel rather than from his patients, though that's also possible).

Bedbugs, vitamin D deficiency...have you made that call yet?

Hassled · 01/03/2011 11:19

Have you tried an antihistamine? It could be a bit of an allergic reaction to something.

thomasbodley · 01/03/2011 11:19

You don't need to see the doctor - just a chat on the phone will set your fears at rest. They normally ask you to come in if the itching hasn't ceased after 2 days of treating with an anti-histamine.

suwoo · 01/03/2011 11:21

You have to call at 8.30 or 1.30, and I'll be out at 1.30 so can do in the morn. Definitely no rash. No-one else is itching. No itching in pits or between fingers. Could be a vit deficiency. I've just done a 30 day detox too, no alchohol or diet coke. Why do I get fucking itchy now. Have piriton in the house, shall I take some of that?

OP posts:
IngridBergmann · 01/03/2011 11:22

Are you wearing any wool? I get like this when I have a woolly jumper on.

It is bizarre.

IngridBergmann · 01/03/2011 11:23

yy take piriton. It can't do any harm.

suwoo · 01/03/2011 11:25

I am wearing a new top which is wool, but this is the third day and I haven't the other two days. Although I tried it on on Sunday. Hmmm. Will take piriton in a sec then off to uni with all the filthy students that have given me scabies

OP posts:
IngridBergmann · 01/03/2011 11:28

It is the wool!

I promise you. take the darn thing orf immediately.

suwoo · 01/03/2011 11:35

But it's nice makes me look thin

OP posts:
suwoo · 01/03/2011 11:36

Right have taken piriton and am off to uni, to hopefully not infect anyone. Thanks for the advice.

CuppaTeaJanice · 01/03/2011 11:40

Have you tried moisturising? I get itchy legs in the evenings, I figured maybe that was the time of day the hairs grow?

Presumably you don't shave your back and shoulders though......Hmm

suwoo · 01/03/2011 11:57

Er no. Grin. It seems to have stopped following the piriton. Does this mean it's not scabies?

OP posts:
JaxTellersOldLady · 01/03/2011 12:00

I doubt it is scabies (fears google) it sounds like a reaction to something, shampoo/conditioner or more likely that wooly jumper. I cannot wear wool against my skin and even cashmere has to be super soft otherwise I have to wear a vest top underneath.

NanTheWiser · 01/03/2011 22:11

Im like Norman, I always itch during the winter months, cold weather, heating and dry air. Especially round my middle! You can get E45 Itch Relief cream which does help.
