..and was fine.
Was sooo scared about the fitting. Had my son 6 months ago (second) not convinced I want another.
Anyway, I wanted to let anyone else worrying about this know it is fine!
I faint, get panicky etc etc with these things and I had no need to worry, doc was great but really it was fine.
Just like having a smear, only a little more prodding etc.
Was done about 45 mins ago, did not feel faint afterwards, haven't got any period pains (as yet) and feel very happy that will not be taking risks getting pregnant!

I've had a mirena coil in the past and am going to get one fitted in the next week or so (just had ds). I was told I had to wait until 12 weeks after the birth though! I know some people don't get on with mirena but it has been fab for me - I even find my pmt symptoms lessen (don't get as moody, although I still get very clumsy and forgetful - well, slightly more than normal anyway )

I also had one fitted for 5 years prior to having my baby, I found the fitting a bit painful but was told that was to be expected as I hadn't had children.

Found it to be the most natural way of preventing pregnancy. I had one without any hormones also as its the hormones I have problems with. My periods were absolutely clockwork and I concieved fairly quickly once we began trying for a baby. I haven't had one refitted since the birth of my daughter as we planned to only have 6 month gap before trying for our second baby (about now) so wasn't worth it but will definately get one fitted after my next baby.

I have one and apart from horrendously heavy periods for the first 4/5 months all has been fine with it. Glad to say periods have settled down and are very manageable now.

Its a body reaction kind of thing, everyone will react to it in a different way, in the five years I had mine, my periods were every 31 days, and only lasted for 3/4 days and were extremely light, I had no pmt, no bad skin...and no other side effects - definately the best thing for me and believe me I have tried everything...

Remember there are different types available, you need to talk about what will suit you most, you do not have to have ones which have hormones in them.
