swollen itchy labia - what could it be?

I've recently had a baby. A couple of days ago I decided to [ahem] tidy myself up again down below. Just used my usual trimmer on the usual setting (no.3). The next day my outer labia had swollen type lumps and quite red and itchy. I put it down to a shaving type rash but it's still no better today.

Is there anything else it could be? And is there anything I can do to speed its recovery? I used vaseline the first couple of days and have just used some E45 this morning.

i had a similar thing when i shaved (OUCH!!!!) it took ages to go eventually plucked up courage to go to docs found out it was an infected hair folicle he told the me to use creams such as e45 to soften the skin but i found the best thing to use was sudocrem cos within a week all back to normal. moral of the story wax in future hope that helps

Thanks carly - I'll get the sudocrem out - was a bit worried that it might irritate it but should have thought that if it's OK for babies should be OK for me. Didn't realise that I was quite so sensitive down there

No chance of waxing here [ouch]

sudocrem is my lifeline when i gave birth although on neither birth i had any stiches or tears it was still pretty sore epsecially having a three hour labour and 8lb baby then a 56 min labour and 7lb 9oz!!!
so if anything happens eg a cut or burn im there with my trusty sudocrem hope it works for you too

you can get a cream called Eurax that is very good for itch, from all good chemists

nappy cream - this happens to me quite a bit and its the only thing that soothes it.

put cream in the fridge for a bit before use

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
