I am on Day 13 of my period. Has anyone had this happen?

Normally they're 4/5 days or so. Only thing of real note is that this one was more or less pain free, whereas normally I have a day or two of a lot of pain - I'm assuming I wasn't having the standard level of uterine contractions and that's why it's taken longer to all come out.

It looked like it was finally ending yesterday - it was that end-of-period gunge (sorry), but today it's bright red again. It's not at all heavy, though.

No chance it was a miscarriage unless immaculate conception - DH has had the snip.

I have had period problems before - at one point I was having 2 a month, was checked for fibroids etc and cleared, and put it down to peri-menopausal stuff (am 44). I still have short cycles but not as bad. But never problems re length like this.

Do I need to see a Dr or is this just a blip? Thanks.

marking place - also mid forties and having problems. Periods normally heavy, every 3 weeks and have been taking tranexamic acid for "flooding" which WAS working. Last period was light but I have been having flooding/blood clots at least once a day since - once minute nothing, the next full on (now on about day 9 since start). Sorry if tmi. Find it hard to relax not knowing if going to suddenly start up again.

Don't know what's going on sorry, but 13 days of bleeding sounds like a long time. I'd be worried about becoming anaemic so would go to the GP, might be nothing wrong but better to know for sure.

Also marking my place I had the same last mont, it finally finished after 21 days on valentines day (how romantic), then yesterday I started again, but back to mega heavy. I'm 42 and have been scanned etc but all clear. Blood tests say I haven't started menopause. Let's hope someone has some advice.

go see your GP. They may recommend a short course of progesterone to reset your cycle. it may, or may not, get everything back to normal.

Many thanks - will ring for an appointment tomorrow. I do feel shit - just tired and manky. It's not heavy, but it's persistent.

I had this start a few monts ago, periods had become a lot lighter than usual but varied in length and weren't regular. Just like you say, not as much pain as usual. I was bleeding for under a week, then a week with nothing, then it would start again. Then I would have periods of up to 10 days that were very light - I didn't go more than a couple of weeks without at least a short bleed.

Was given a course of norethisterone. No bleeding since, and all the signs of my period coming on time on Friday just gone - but still nothing. Dr put it down to hormonal changes due to coming off the pill before Christmas.

I do need to get a smear but the gyny had a good look at my cervix and said nothing that she could see to be worried about.

Bit worrying really. Would love to know how you get on at the drs with this. Good luck

Thanks - will report back as I'm clearly not alone!

For those who posted who've had similar problems, I spoke to my GP earlier and the upshot is 2 weeks of Progesterone to stop the period and reset things. Then I should have a "breakthrough bleed" and then hopefully it will settle down - if it doesn't, I'll need a "more thorough examination".

And I was too flustered and crap to ask why - is this perimenopausal stuff or just bad luck or what. I also didn't ask how long after the breakthrough bleed will I have my next period.

Hassled - hope you're ok.

Hmmmm period still not here. It's now a week overdue in normal terms. Had the odd cramp and twinge and really thought it would be on time (last Friday) but it's a no show.

I'm having tests for underactive thyroid and diabetes next week so would be interested to know if anyone with either of those things has had wonky periods too.
