Infected eczema, doc prescribed sudacrem as I'm preggers

I've got cracked infected eczema on a couple of fingers, it's spread to my legs, prob from scratching. Blush
About ten months ago GP prescribed fucibet, which helps, but it's never cleared up altogether.
Went the other week and as I'm now pg he has prescribed sudacrem which isn't really doing much and it's all getting much worse.

I'll be honest and I wasn't always using the fucibet twice a day, and sometimes I'd forget to moisturise after washing hands etc. but what should I do, it's making me miserable.

Do you think oral ABs would help? Are they ok when pg?

Hi TimeWasting, I am in the same boat - 39 wks pregnant and covered in eczema. I tried Sudocreme but found that tbh it was making things worse (never liked using it on dd - it seems quite harsh for something that is recommended for babies!).

However, I seem to have found a miracle cure in the form of Jo Malone vitamin E gel. I have applied a tiny bit once a day over the course of the last two days onto an area in my elbow and the eczema has literally disappeared overnight. The only problem is that the gel is v pricey, and I wouldn't recommend buying some on the offchance that it would work for you. (It is actually DH's, that he uses to clear up spots and blemishes - works a treat!) However, I'm sure that there must be a cheaper alternative available that might be worth a try. It is not a moisturiser, it looks more like Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream in consistency, but I know when my mum recently had a mole removed the hospital advised that she used vitamin E cream to help the scar heal and fade, so it could be that a cream would be just as effective.

HTH, I feel your pain!

I'll keep an eye out for something like that, thank you Casa.

It's it being infected that seems the main issue atm. If it was just dry the Aveeno would zap it, but it's seriously inflamed.

I know it may not help now, but if you could get a quick referral to a dermo it would be interesting- not many GPs know much about eczema.

I can only assume he thinks that the cream would harm your baby? Both me and my son have had eczeam over the years and from what I know, very little is absorbed into your system so I think you should ask why you cannot use a weak steroid etc short term.
