sorry this is going to be a bit long but please read id really apreciate it!

during the last trimester of my pregnancy i used to get really blured vision and even go completly blind in my left eye for a few minutes until i ate sugar, my midwife said this was my sugars playing up.
then my ears use to feel full all the time but i ignored that for a while... finally fount out i have glue ear ( which i stil havnt been treated for).
but the most concerning thing is once i gave birth i immediatley kept being sick and when i stood up i was so dizzy i was seeing star like things evrywhere, midwifes told me to just rest ( i had a easy labour 6 hours and no pain relief).
once up on the ward my dizzyness got worse almost like vertigo i couldnt move my head at all, i just thought this was normal as it was my first child and didnt know what to expect.
it carryed on for weeks and i got diagnosed with anemia, had meds for it, aparently my iron levels are perfet now but im still constantly dizzy. my daughter is now one year and 8 months old!!!
i am getting really frustrated now as my doctor has just put me on sudafed (decongestion tablets) for over a year and has refered me to a phycologist insisting i have anxiety.
i will admit that i get anxious and worried but this is only because im always dizzy from the moment i wake up, it effecting my day to day basics and my partner is getting frustrated aswel.
my friend took a photo of me a few weeks back and i noticed a huge dent in my forhead that you cant see with the naked eye, only each time i take a photo. I looked back at photos before i had my daughter there is no sign of this 'dent' but it is on the after birth pictures that was took on the ward.
i told my doctor about this and he just looks at me like im crazy or paranoid. i will try and post some pictures if i can on here.
if anybody can relate to this or give any advice on what it could be please share with me as its been nearly 2 years!! and my dizzyness is geting more severe and iv also started experiencing headaches on a daily basis recently.
thank you for your time.. sorry its long! xxx

Yes I also thought of Meniere's! My aunt has it and what you describe sounds exactly like her when she has an attack of it (which can take months to go away for her). Go and ask your doctor about that, maybe ask for a different GP if your usual one isn't helpful?

emmabrooke · 27/02/2011 23:25

yeah im thinking of changing my GP.
but mine is constant from morning till i go bed. its really getting me down now, and my doctor has no explination about this dent i my head! which is concerning and also knocked my confidence as i never want people to take my photo anymore, im thinking of getting a full fringe put in to cover it up even tho i dont really want one :(

OP posts:
hellymelly · 27/02/2011 23:38

If you can only see the dent in pictures then you don't need to grow a fringe to cover it,perhaps it is a very slight thing that only shows in certain lights, which is why you can see it in some pictures? You may be over-worrying about it because you feel so horrible with the dizzyness.I had a lengthy bout of vertigo and it is really unpleasant,so I sympathise.I can understand why you feel so stressed as it is quite a frightening feeling,I didn't leave my home for months as I would just keel over.I do think you need to change docs and take someone with you when you go so that you can be clearer and more assertive.Take the pictures as they obviously worry you so much.

emmabrooke · 27/02/2011 23:43

ive posted a coupe of photos on here but you can see it with the naked eye now aswel as its got bigger.
yeah i definatly need someone to go with me and be firmer :)

i rarely go out the house aswell as i feel like im going to fall over all the time. how long did yours last if you dont mind me asking?

I was thinking of labyrinthitis, but found this, which also describes a similar condition and both can result from inner ear infections...maybe you don't have glue ear and have an infection?

Must be really awful for you, poor thing, vertigo is so debilitating.

Can't help with the dent though, sorry. It probably seems much worse to you than others though, so try not to worry about it too much.

hellymelly · 27/02/2011 23:50

mine lasted about 6m,Gp thought it was viral vestibulitis, but I didn't vomit, just had bad vertigo.I was seen at the ear, nose and throat hospital where they did a manouvre on me to dislodge any debris that can be a cause of vertigo, but in the end I saw my osteopath and he felt it was caused by my neck vertebrae being out of alignment. I haven't had another bout,it was 8 years ago nearly, but if I spin about or attempt a forward roll as I did with dd a fe weeks ago(!) then I get a brief intense vertigo flash.Other than that it does seem to have gone away. sounds like maybe you should be seen at the ENT hospital where they will check you properly. It must be so hard having vertigo with a small baby.
Can you feel the dent with your fingers?

emmabrooke · 28/02/2011 00:00

thank you for that link! its very interesting! ill mention it to my doctor.. i feel like im doing his job! haha.

yeah it is very hard because im on my own majority of the time aswell and just doing simple things like the laundry and vaccuming makes me worse. i admit i have learnt to just 'deal with it' as its been so long now but i feel i shouldnt have to put up with this as before i had my daughter or even when i was pregnant i never once felt like this Confused
yes i can feel it with my fingers aswel and i always have like a pressure feeling around that area and just above my nose, but when i press the dent it seems to fade.

mucocele of paranasal sinuses can cause forehead dent, dizziness and visual disturbances.

i think another referral to ENT should be pushed for via GP.

eden263 · 28/02/2011 07:26

Nice work, blinks :)

Jammygal · 28/02/2011 21:02

Sounds like peops have a good idea of what it is.....Hope you get it sorted soon .....there is nothing worse than feeling crap.....and having to persuade the doc to listen!

emmabrooke · 01/03/2011 01:56

Thank you everyone! I went back to the doctors today and he had the worst attitude ever! My partner was really annoyed and I'm changing my doctor. Fingers crossed it gets sorted now at last :)

I've actully been thinking my sinuses for a while because I have constant pressure around my nose and above my eyebrows, and I always here like a popping noise its hard to explain but its like bubbles inside my nose :s but my headaches have been getting worse and there like someones squeezing my head.
Ill mention sinuses to my new doctor if he doesn't mention it, thanks!! :)

just push push push for a referral. don't leave without one.

zipzap · 01/03/2011 21:53

Sometimes it can be really helpful in situations like this to get the doctor to tell you - and put down on your notes - why exactly they are saying with 100% certainty that you do not have certain conditions given that you match a high number of the symptoms for those conditions - for example menieres and mucocele of paranasal sinuses picking a couple from this list.

Also ask them what the treatment for those diseases would be if you had got them, and if you have a misdiagnosis now, what the effects of not getting that treatment for a year/[whatever time period you want] would be.

Bizarrely (in these days of litigation!) sometimes the easiest way to get somebody to say yes to something you want (ie another consultation) is to ask them to say no and accept all the consequences of saying that, having spelt them all out to you too. Also ask if there are any risks to taking sudofed for a year and it not working.

And it's not like you are worried about something trivial; a dent in your head that is getting worse, bad dizziness and headaches etc that are causing you very real problems in coping with day to day life. You have been incredibly patient in trying to follow their initial suggested advice for a while now and it hasn't worked. If you had been trying something for a week then maybe he could say you were being impatient. But a year - you have given him a fair shot and it's just not working so yes, it is time to try something else.

Is it worth ringing nhs direct to see if they can suggest something it might be - even if just to ask them if they think it could be any of the conditions listed here. Then you can talk to the new gp and say that you wanted to talk to him about it being the possibility of you having xyz as suggested by nhs direct, rather than saying you googled it/got it off the internet which might make them less dismissive of you...

good luck in getting a decent new gp and getting this sorted!

emmabrooke · 04/03/2011 23:24

zipzap thank you so much!!!! some really helpful information there :)
i did ring the nhs after reading this just for some advice and they was really helpful but did say its best to change doctors and be refered to ENT
they also said it does sound like sinustis, they asked me to do things while i was on the phone like put my head forward and i got pressure above my eyebrows and in my cheek etc..
thank you everyone so much for your help and advice i reallllly appriciate it! im finally starting to get somewhere after almost 2 years! i should of joined this ages ago haha. :) :) :)
Ill keep everybody posted anyway (if your interested) xxxxx
