she is having a hammock type thing put in to hold her bladder up,
I know she is going to have her vagina cut so he can access the bladder and 2 key hole scars on her abdomen.

She feels she will be able to be moderately functional within the first few days ie able to be up and about at home but I have no idea.

I am going up to help her but no idea how much she should be resting and what level that rest means iykwim.

Also, will they want her to have gone to the loo before she leaves hospital? and therefore is it possible she will be in for more than 1 night?

so many questions, I have asked her but she is determined that she is goign to be fine!

greyskull - my mum (61) had a prolapse op last october. she was very tired and sore for about a week, and she rested lots. it was more comfortable for her to lie down than sit, which she couldn't do for very long initially (sit). to be honest, i think the tiredness was what got her, more than the afterpain of it. she got a bit fed up with visitors after a while and i think just wanted to do nothing and recuperate.

she is a very cautious person anyway, so wouldn't have been up to quickly. after about 2-3 weeks, she seemed more 'her old self'.

not sure if this helps as everyone is different though.

ooh that is perfect thank you
Sh won't let dad take time off work so he is going to be out of the house 11-3 each day for the next 2 weeks.
She is going to hopefully be coming home Saturday afternoon and I am going up Monday morning then my sister is going up Thursday Friday then my brother is doing the following weekend.

I have a couple of good books to take and we have a hige stack of sloppy girly movies to watch.

Thanks again for your response.

My MIL was v tired afterwards and slow to bounce back. It was a couple of weeks before she was doing tiny little bits of housework, cooking, and in retrospect we should have looked after her more. Rest and recuperation in ample doses.

I should have said, I hope the op goes well. Your plans sound v sensible and kind.
