DS's poos - sorry!

Ds is 22 months and his poos have nearly always been sloppy. There have been days when they've been like normal poos but it never lasts. They are usually very sloppy and smelly.

Is this ok or should we be concerned? We're trying to potty train and it's impossible as we never know when he is doing a poo, it must just slop out with no effort on his part!

My ds is 18 mnths old and has done 5 solid poos in his life. Last time we went to see his allergy consultant we asked him about it and he said that it is because he produces too much mucus because of allergies that he has to things in the air and this excess mucus is causing his loose poos. He prescribed him zirtec to take twice a day to combat the mucus production and said that he would get more solid poos in the future. So far he hasn't but I thought it was worth letting you know.

Thanks for that! I am reluctant to go down the allergy road as I believe that too many children are being diagnosed with allergies, some of it is just a cop-out my lazy doctors unwilling to probe any further, some of it is genuine.

I'm also a very lazy mother who goes into panic attacks at the thought of not being able to give ds butties or pasta for his lunch - my imagination over food only goes so far!

I think I'll just give it a bit more time. He's perfectly fine apart from the sloppy nappies. I'd have thought that if he was producing too much mucus it would be evident elsewhere? i.e his nose, eyes and mouth?

Ah well, might get in a curry for tonight
