Poor little man My stepson was circumsised for medical reasons at age 8, he was kept in over-night. The (private) hospital he was in gave him painkillers to take home for the next few days.

I'd give him Calpol/Nurofen for kids if the pain is really bothering him and just try to keep his mind off it. Obvious advice, I know. Sorry I can't be of more help

I got my ds a remote controlled digger & loads of tlc - he wouldn't take the pain madicaton given, not a fun time, but fortunately passed. Lots of patience also needed. Good luck to friend

boe - I think the initial lack of response is because people are waring of getting into the kind of slanging match that erupted on a previous circumcision thread. Not much help to you I'm afraid - and I can't help either

judetheobscure · 11/09/2003 22:53

should have said "wary"

Boe · 12/09/2003 09:22

He is bit better today but apparently walking like John Wayne and screaming if anyone comes near him.

As for the reasons - his winky used to blow up like a balloon was always getting infected as could not pull skin back and he peed all over the place to the extent that the carpet in the bathroom has not been laid!!

Those are the same reasons that my stepson had it done. It looked awful

My ds wouldn't take the pain killer like I said last post, but he didn't seem to be in as much discomfort as you describe. One thing I was told to do was put a big blob of vaseline on a dressing (I guess a clean cloth hankie would be fine) and put that down his pants. It did leak through unfortunatelt, so has a greasy croth on some pants & trousers! but maybe this will help your friend's ds?
