Glad to hear she is feeling better.

Yes, allergic reactions are an excesive immunological response to an external irritant.

About Eucerin, were are you located? we used to get the one with a pump in Spain but we have not seen that presentation here in the UK, is it the one with 10% Urea?, if so, I should try to find it, definitively more convenient (and cleaner) than the regular bottles.

When my ds has been scratching badly, I've been perscribed some antihistimine, piriton, for him to take at night.

I found this really helpful as it just stopped him scratching enough for him to start healing.

Also for hydrocortisone I like the fucident h as it also has an antibacterial agent. I find that far more effective than the regular hydrocortisone.

Think with excema there is a lot of ignorance and you quickly get very weary of what people tell you. My Mum was told by one chemist that the only treatment was E45 - that actually aggrevates many childrens excema.

Personally I like epaderm - good thick lardy stuff. I've also found covering ds's entire body in sudacreme to be very effective.

Hope you have some luck soon. It's just a matter of finding waht works for you.

Lynny70 - am off to Bulgaria tomorrow - will get you some of the cream I found great with DS -if you CAT me your address. Some other friends found it worked really well with their DD as well.

Don't worry about cost - you can make a donation in my name to any kiddie charity if you like.

poor you linny, and poor dd. I know exactly what you are going through believe me. DD1 was engulfed in awful eczema and dd2 has also had problems. We were back and forth from the GP, local hospital etc, but we never really got anywhere until we asked for a referral to one of the dermatology paediatricians at Great Ormond St.We never looked back.Long story but if you are in a position to be able to pay then maybe you should try this ?> becuase basically ordinary Gps know next to nothing about eczema , nor how best to treat it.
I really hope you get some good help and that your little dd improves. we found wet wrapping the best by far - a hassle but you can get everything on presription.
