Ahhhh Athlete's foot!

I have really really reallly bad Athlete's foot and my doctor gave me lamisilmono to put on it. He told me I could use it whilst I am still breastfeeding my 1yr old dd. But I just read the instructions and it says that breastfeeding others cannot use it.

Does anybody have any solutions to this Athlete foot problem? Any natural solutions maybe?

Thanks

Have you tried any other over the counter creams? Perhaps the manufacturers of lamasil are covering their own backs when they say you shouldn't use it whilst breastfeeding. I find Daktarin just as good as lamasil, and easily available.

Check with your doctor - sometimes it just means it's not licensed for over the counter sale for use during pregnancy, but can be prescribed by a doctor.

Calpol says not for use under 6 months, but my doctor prescribed it for DS1 at 6 weeks

see if permitabs are ok to use. soak your feet in the solution and that should clear it up.

Do you live anywhere near the sea samoa?

I suffered terribly from athlete's foot as a child and tried every cream/lotion/potion known to man, none of which made the slightest bit of difference.

One doctor suggested that I wore open sandals for the whole summer and paddled in the sea every day.

I did this, and it cleared up completely and didn't come back for 10 years!!

Now, I don't live quite so near the sea, otherwise I'd be in there every day as a preventitive measure!

I used to live by the sea in Samoa but then we moved back to europe and my foot got worse again. But the sea definitely helped.

Thanks everybody for the advice. I am going to see doctor again tomorrow so I will ask then.

is it definitely athletes foot. that is classically between little toe and one next to it. if it is elsewhere it is worth mentioning pompholyx to the doctor. my sons gp kept treating him for athletes foot despite it being on many other parts of the foot. it was a wrong diagnosis and he then got treated for pompholyx and it cleared up within 4 weeks and has never come back. it does look very similar to athletes foot.

do you have a picture.
