Ringworm

Just wondering if anyone can tell me what ringworm looks like when you first get it. I know it ends up as a circle patch on your skin with the centre looking healed.

I have a patch on the top of my arm which looks a bit suspicious. Its not a circle but more like lots of little pimples all joined together. Its been there for a couple of weeks but is starting to get a little bit bigger. It doesn't have a clear patch in the middle.

I work in a school and there is at least 2 children with ringworm at the moment so it is possible I have been exposed to it.

Both of my sisters and my dad suffer from psoriasis so it could always be that.

My ringworm goes into rings pretty quick (caught it from dd and still having outbreaks several months later). The skin feels sort of rough, but it's not really pimply. My dh has psoriasis and it doesn't really look like that. Although if your place looks pimply that doesn't really sound like psoriasis, which has little sorts of platelety bits (although I am sure you know what it looks like). I would guess that if your patch has been like that for a couple of weeks it's probably something else. Why not ask your local pharmacist? They are pretty good for standard skin things. If you use daktarin (from the pharmacy) on your place and it doesn't start to fade in a week or so it is unlikely to be ringworm, I think. There are some pretty good medical websites with pictures which can help. I usually go to medline because it is a government (American) accredited site, and so pretty reliable.
