I don't know much about it, only that my nephew suffered with it for a little while after he had rubella when he was about 7. As far as I know, some viruses like rubella and mumps can cause a temporary form of arthritis, either while you have the virus or for a little while afterwards. From what I remember they told my sister that it usually gets better by itself, although very occasionally it can cause rheumatoid arthritis to develop. My nephew had it for a couple of months after he had rubella, he's 19 now and has never had it come back again.

My nephew had an acute arthritis of his knee when he was 8 months following a viral infection.

It is apparently a "not that rare" complication following an ordinary viral infection.

He was quite poorly with a few days in hospital, and his motor development was slightly delayed, but made a full recovery.

Yes. I had postviral arthritis after I had parvovirus.

Not sure how much to tell you as don't want to worry you - I was very badly affected though, which is pretty rare. I am fine now though (only get twinges if I overdo it).

I spent best part of a year on sticks......this is in my hands and feet (& poss my lower back - but that's always fairly cr*p, so who knows?)

It's been arroun for about week/10 days.....it hasn't been suggested that it will get worse, just it will take a while to go

I have had this twice. Once after a virus without a name(as far as i know) and once after parvovirus - only I could get something that dogs usually get!!!lol. It wans't very nice, worse the first time, but I haven't been left with any after effects.

Did you have a virus recently? Parvo was like a fluey thing (it's also called fifth's disease, or slapped cheek - most people get it when they're five or so, but I didn't), but I had a rash on about the third day, then woke up unable to move because I was in such agony. Hands, feet, knees particularly - white hot pain.

It didn't stay that bad the whole time, but did flare up - I was unable to work for 2 years, had an orange badge and DLA because my mobility was so limited. I have a feeling the reason it was so bad was because at the time, my endometriosis was getting worse - I was exhausted and in chronic pain 24/7.

I truly hope this isn't what you have - like I say, mine was pretty much worst-case scenario - it's very rare to have it that badly.

Most people have had it - it's just not called parvo when humans get it usually

Sounds very different to vague pains in my hands and feet - was yours bad all at once?

Yes, was very, very bad all at once.

Mine came on within three days of having symptoms of parvo, so if you had it in the spring, not sure it would be that (though don't quote me - bodies do odd things!).

I really hope it's not that, but it does sound like it's mild if it is.
