I have just come home after 3 days in hospital with excrutiating stomach pain, a laparoscopy and have been diagnosed with 'ovulation pain'

WEnt in to A&E on Saturady absolutely doubled over in pain

They gave me a laparoscopy (yesterday, so 2 days spent climbing the walls on morphine) as have had a ovarian cyst which burst in the past, so thought it was that. Scanned me and saw a 3cm cyst so thought it may be bleeding so went in with the camera.

Said it wasn't enough to take out, so left the cyst there, said 'you just have ovulation pain, perhaps you should consider going on the pill'.

Sent me home with co-drydamol and Diclofenac. Am sat here in as much pain ads I was on Saturday completely bemused. Ovulation pain? I have never had period/ovulation pain in my life. They have signed me off for a week (due to op more than anything else) and I can barely walk.

Really upset as have not slept for 3 nights and don't know what to do. I think the hospital thought I was a neurotic.

Has anyone else experience anything like this?

I had undiagnosed pain in same area for about 20 years, despite gynaes and other consultants NHS and private etc plus various alternative practitioners, scans etc.
It was only while having surgery for something completely different that an ovary damaged and
misplaced by a previous accident was
discovered.

Wish I could offer you some suggestions.
I do wish you luck getting a proper diagnosis.

I was told (and my DH also told) that I would be in fine form the day after a laparoscopy and no need to take time off work etc. The trapped air was agony, they forgot to tell me about that.

I can relate to the disempowerment of being ill, and a patient. I never imagined I could be treated as brutally as I was by hospital staff, when my DD was born, I did not stand up for her or myself, and will always regret that.

I get ov pain too but only really on one side. Every step you take jars it so much it is awful. Have had it since my mid 20's (late 30's now) and scans then and since have revealed no cyst it's just ovulation pain. It doesn't sound as severe as yours but it bloody hurts.

I'm sorry that some of those looking after you at hospital were so shit.

Interestingly last two pregnancies at early scans they said that the sac was on the side I get the pain in, and as my womd has a divide 2/3 of the way down it it must be my 'lucky' side. Good luck with ttc that will be one way to stop ov pains!

womb! Not womd. My reproductive organs are not actually 'weapons of mass destruction' no matter how defective they may be!
