BIT OF TOOTH GROWING NEXT TO MOLAR

At the top right-hand side of my mouth at the back I seem to have a tiny bit of tooth sticking out next to where my molar is. At first I was having abit of tooth pain here and when I had it examined by the dentist he told me that it could be because my wisdom teeth are coming through. 1 month later the pain has gone and I thought I had something stuck in my back tooth which was not getting out even through brushing and flossing. On closer inspection I can see what looks like a tiny bit of tooth next to my molar in the top right-hand side of my mouth. Its not painful but if Im eating on that side it will hurt a little bit especially if Im eating meat.

Its not really next to my wisdom tooth its the 2nd tooth down from the back.

No idea but watching with interest as I have what I think is my one wisdom tooth poking out above my back molar. Been brushing it to make sure it doesn't go manky, but it doesn't hurt or get in the way of anything.

Are you asking a question or telling a story? Have you spoken to your dentist again? Did you have teeth taken out as a child? Sometimes bits of them can be left behind and work their way out when you're older.

spurs12345 · 07/02/2011 20:52

What makes you think Im telling a story? Obviously its a question.

Well, I was looking for a question mark. Tried to help in the post above. How old are you? It's impossible to say without actually seeing it. Is there any bleeding around it? Does it move if you play with it? You say it's the second tooth from the back, do you mean next to your first big tooth (counting from the front)?

spurs12345 · 07/02/2011 22:01

Sorry for leaving out the question mark. I know you were trying to help. I am 37 years old. No bleeding around it. Moves slightly if I play with it. Its kind of between the 2nd and 3rd tooth at the back, top right (counting from the back).

I have this, I thought I had a hole I my tooth but was told recently by dentist that a bit of baby tooth has worked its way up. It's on the inside surface of my molar between 2 teeth.
Was v relieved as thought would need first filling at aged 34

isthismadness · 07/02/2011 22:18

That's exactly where mine is spurs
On the inside surface?
She knew straight away so must be quite common

spurs12345 · 07/02/2011 22:32

At least thats one thing we have in common. Do you think we have something to worry about? Like could it affect our tooth

OP posts:
isthismadness · 07/02/2011 22:39

Sorry spurs have we come across each other in a thread before? Don't understand "at least that's on thing we have in common"

No as far as I know it will just work its way out

But see your dentist

spurs12345 · 07/02/2011 23:05

What I mean is that we both have the same thing. Im just trying to be friendly.

isthismadness · 07/02/2011 23:22

Ahh sorry. Thought I'd pissed you off.

Anyway good luck :)

spurs12345 · 07/02/2011 23:25

Why would you want to piss me off for?

OP posts:
isthismadness · 07/02/2011 23:50

Huh?
I said I thought I' had pissed you off. Not that I want you piss off!

spurs12345 · 08/02/2011 00:11

Oh ok sorry

Just keep it clean, the more you play with it the more likely it is to work its way out. Very common, have only come across one that caused a problem and that was easily fixed.

QueeferSutherland · 08/02/2011 06:31

How interesting!

Is it a broken bit of baby tooth then?
How would it get broken? Usual baby rough and tumble?

I know shiney!

Thanks dentist. Quite bizarre that it's taken 30 years to work its way up

Dentistnotheretobejudged · 08/02/2011 11:00

I'm only surmising based on what you've said here!! Sometimes if a baby tooth is extracted or has decay, a bit of root can be left behind. I would need x rays etc to confirm it though.
