How long does it take to heal?

Have had entire toenail on big toe removed and treated with phenol......about three weeks ago, but it still hurts Sad

It's not infected, just sore.

Any experiences?

I had mine done in April last year, both big toes and was driving two days later.
I think you need to go back to your doctor and check that all is OK.

I'm walking around okay and doing my usual stuff, it's just still very sore Sad I'm due to see the podiatry people soon for a checkup.

Don't take this the wrong way, but are you good at tolerating pain?
I have a ridiculously high pain tolerance threshold, and my feet were uncomfortable for me, so maybe for a 'normal' person it is really sore?

ilovemyhens · 06/02/2011 10:45

I think my pain tolerance is okay. What type of dressings did you have on afterwards? My dh has been applying toe tubing and I think it's applying too much pressure. I've put a Mepore around it and it feels a lot better Hmm dh went to a lot of trouble to order this toe tubing, but I'll have to tell him it's no good Sad

How long did it take before your toes were fully healed?

Sorry to not get back. I had a surgical dressing done in theatre then had to go to our doctor to have the dressings changed after four or five days.
He used a greasy gauze as it looked like a load of raw meat. then some tubing. After 10 days I had the sutures out. I don't want that again.
I could then do my own dressings, I used non sticky dressings, similar to mepore but shinier if that makes sense.
My toes were fully healed after about a month. I do heal very well.

Okay, will stick it out Grin

I had a good look at it last night and it doesn't seem as red raw. It mainly hurts when I'm on my feet for a long time at work.

I'm just impatient I guess lol

Glad your toes are happy Grin
